Colour Throwdown Challenge

I've been itching to use the stamp set Bookcase Builder a lot more and today was the day!  It's for the challenge at Colour Throwdown.

For my girl....

As Colleen, my oldest daughter, begins her 4th year university I sent her this loving great start card.  (PS. she was never a ballet dancer but I like how delicate this stamp looks)

A Birthday card for a cutie...

A good friend's daughter will be celebrating her 1st birthday next month and here's the 'cute card' for that 'cutie'!

SSU57 - Looking outside the box!

Welcome to "Saturday Step Up" where I'm using a stamp designed for valentine's for another card type.  

Remember...you can always remove the words on any stamp (mask off with tape) and use it for another use than initially intended.

I stepped up the left card by totally embossing the surface in Iridescent Ice embossing powder to make it glittery. (see enlarged image below) I also embossed the main card front and added ribbon.

I used on these cards:

Shania Twain inspired....

My SIL Louise purchased Shania Twain concert tickets for her husband as part of their 25th anniversary celebration.   She asked if I could make a card using her song titles....

Here it is.... 

My BIL is a farmer and construction worker, hence the boots!

I created the construction boots from the same stamp as the rubber boots with a little creative drawing!



I was pretty impressed with my little jingle too!!!

Vellum and butterflies...!

There's only a few days left in 2015's Sale-a-bration!!

These beautiful butterflies are the vellum!!!  I coloured on the back with my Stampin' Write Markers.   I also cut the front of the card 3/4" narrower to reveal the embossing.

Welcome to "Manly Monday" with a cute tag & gift box to send from the group to a friend whose not feeling well.

I stepped up the left card by adding another layer with the background DSP, added some distressing with ink around the flower, added a torn edge to the floral piece, and coloured and added some pearls.

SSU51 - Bee Happy....

Colleen returns to Kingston tomorrow and I created a cute card to send in her luggage as a surprise when she opens it up!

I did it a couple of ways for "Saturday Step Up!" ... I know, I know...I'm late...

I stepped up the left card by adding the Painter's Tape technique to the background, embossed the stamped cardstock, used a different colour cardbase and created 3D bees by stamping on a separate sheet and cutting out and popping up with dimensionals.

I used:

Framelits create the perfect Mat...

Your BIG SHOT and framelits are an indispensable part of any paper crafting but especially when you want the perfect mat for your focal point!!!  The 'nested' Oval framelits are used on my card today.

and on the inside

Now don't fall over with seeing that I included stamping on the inside....

If you're new to my blog, it's rare that I stamp inside a card but it was ideal to match with the greeting.

HINT:  if you want to hide part of a stamp, cover it with tape before inking and remove the tape before stamping.
